Privacy Policy
Effective date: 23 July 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Hamza Shahid Bhatti ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the MunshiJi mobile app and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
2. Account & identity data
To create your account, we collect your phone number, which we verify using Firebase Phone Authentication (a Google service) to issue you a secure login session. We do not receive or store your SMS/OTP code text itself — Firebase handles verification directly. We also store basic profile details you choose to provide, such as a display name.
3. Financial data
When you use the app, we store the expenses you log (amount, category, note, and date), any budgets you set, and any investment risk-profile or goal information you provide. This data is stored in our database and is used solely to power the app's expense tracking, budgeting, and guidance features for your account.
4. Voice & audio data
If you use voice input to log an expense or ask a question, your audio is captured in memory on our server, sent to Google Gemini for transcription and parsing, and then discarded — we do not retain a copy of the audio recording itself. The resulting text (e.g., the parsed expense or transcript) may be stored as part of your financial data described above so we can improve how future entries are parsed for your account.
5. Diagnostic & device data
The mobile app uses Sentry for crash and error reporting in production builds, which may collect device type, OS version, app version, and diagnostic logs surrounding a crash. This is used only to identify and fix bugs — it is not used for advertising or combined with your financial data.
6. How we use AI
Voice transcription, expense parsing, the in-app chat assistant, and budget or investment guidance are powered by Google Gemini. Audio and text you submit for these features are sent to Google's API to generate a response. We do not use these features to fabricate data on your behalf, and we do not sell or share this content with data brokers or advertisers.
7. Where your data is stored
Your account and financial data are stored in a database hosted on infrastructure located outside Pakistan (currently AWS, EU region). Data in transit between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). We do not currently offer region-specific data localization.
8. Data retention & deletion
We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active, so the app can show your history and trends. Deleting an expense in the app marks it as removed and hides it from your view and reports; if you'd like your data permanently and irreversibly erased from our systems, contact us and we'll process the request. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at swairarshad1@gmail.com. We aim to complete deletion requests within a reasonable time and will confirm once it's done.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent to processing. You can exercise any of these rights by contacting us at swairarshad1@gmail.com.
10. Children's privacy
MunshiJi is not directed at, and should not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Governing law
This Policy is governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a different law is required to apply by your local regulations.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your data, can be sent to swairarshad1@gmail.com.
